FIG’S 3rd Editorial Shoot

This was one of my most favorite shoots ever and one of the most stressful ones! We starting prepping at 8am and we started shooting around 12pm. Everybody was so stressed we were behind schedule, but everything worked out and we ended shooting at like 5.

Here is a little background info on the shoot..

Alexandra Kim approached me couple months ago and asked if we could collaborate with her company A.N.D.M Showroom and showcase their handbags and jewelry. And I was more than happy to! I mean we do these photoshoots for fun anyways.

I have a great team and it wouldn’t be possible to have such an amazing outcome without everybody’s input.

We have our amazing talented photographer, Michelle Kim. She has mad skills! You have to check your blog. I go on it all the time. I love the stories she tells with her pictures.  http://seungmichelle.com/

And we have our fabulous make-up artist Natalya Olbes. She is always right on. She relays exactly what I want in make-up. She can do all kinds of makeup! And she is so easy to work with.

And then we have my fabulous all around helper Jeannie Shin. She is such a jokester or just makes fun of me all the time. But when it comes to work, she does it impeccable. I love that we have the same eye. She will tell me when something looks bad and when something is so fabulous that she dies and goes to heaven. She is definitely a keeper!

This time around we had the pleasure of working with Alexandra Kim who not only provided the handbags and jewelry but also did hair.  Don’t you just love when people are talented all around?

And my amazing friend Cara Compesi did the girls’ manicures!

We had three models this time! Kirsten Wintermute, Andi Long and Jacqueline Westling. They were all so fun to work it and all so beautiful. They definitely achieved “flowing”.

“Flowing” was the concept of the shoot. I was just enamored by the Gucci Winter 09 Ad Campaign and it was definitely a major source of inspiration for the shoot. Along with the Gucci Ad, another main inspiration was the Chloe Summer/Spring 09 Ad campaign.

I’ll admit that in the beginning we had some trouble getting the models to “flow”, and I was getting a bit frustrated but towards the end they captured that look completely. So it kind of became an inside joke amongst everyone at the shoot, because I kept on yelling at them to FLOW, to dance like hippies to basque in the sun.

Before the shoot, Jeannie sent me this link and said “Similar to the look you are thinking about”. And that’s why I love her! She always gets exactly what I am thinking about.

-this website serves as 3 different aspects of inspiration. The color scheme we were thinking, the location and the “flow”.

Even before we thought of a theme, all I knew was that I wanted to shoot at the field of yellow flowers by campus and at a deserted dirt field. Michelle found a perfect spot by BISON that clearly said “NO UCI PARKING” for the field of flowers. I was a little bummed that we had not found a deserted dirt field and was about to give up that idea but when we got to the “NO UCI PARKING ZONE”, we found that the deserted dirt field AND the field of yellow flowers!

And here are some pictures!

clothing swap party!

So I have piles and piles of clothes at home that I don’t wear anymore/haven’t worn ever. I have clothes piled up in my room and I also have a room solely to store all my clothes. The other day, I was watching Giuliana and Bill and I got the idea that I should too have a clothing swap party with my girlfriends!

I thought more about it, and I thought it would be a good idea to use that clothing swap party idea as a fundraiser for my club Fashion Interest Group (FIG). Then this Sunday I went to Newsong Church in Irvine and they did a little presentation of how much Haiti is in desperate need of help. And Voila! It clicked to me: clothing swap party = fundraiser for Haiti!

So I made a facebook group, invited some people and hopefully it will be a good turnout. I mean who wouldn’t want to go to a clothing swap party? Get rid of clothes you don’t wear while you get somebody else’s cute clothes! All while you are doing good!

I asked my 14 year old cousin Flor to make me the flyer because she is a lot more computer savvy than I am. I sent her some pictures and told her what to write. Once she was done with the flyer, she sent it to me and I noticed she added this at the bottom of the flyer “Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something”.

And this is my very first post for my blog!

Puss puss! (means kiss kiss in Swedish),
